Similar Conventions

Many people questioned about our film said it reminded them of criminal minds. After some searching I found an episode with similar elements to our script, so following its style would be productive.

It starts with an establishing shot, informing us that the following sequence of events will take place in Washington DC ant night time.

Then moves onto switching between clips of different prostitutes in the area and clips of someone writing a speech on how prostitution is a 'plague' and destroying their streets.

Its then focuses on one specific prostitute, tilting up from her feet to her head allowing her to be in full shot, showing she's going to be important to the plot line.

It then flicks back to the typed up speech where it zooms into the line 'We must exterminate'.

It then shows a transition from night to day by focusing on the Washington monument and speeding up the transition from dark to light.

It quickly moves on to a struggle between the prostitute focused on before and a man struggling in an alleyway during the day, the man is never fully seen, it only shows his hands and back from a extreme close ups and overhead shots, the woman is hit to the ground and the man covers her mouth and stabs her in the chest, the struggling stops.

He removes the blade used to stab her and cuts of large amounts of her hair and leaves it littered around her head before fleeing the scene.

A murder scene within our film is similar to this a so we could use similar conventions to portray our point.
